Uzbekistan has issued its first-ever licences for online betting and bookmaking, officially opening a newly regulated digital market.

The first licensed operators are Olimpbet and Aurum Vale, holding five-year licences valid until 30 July 2031.

The bigger story goes beyond betting

The move brings a previously restricted sector into a formal regulatory framework, introducing licensing, state oversight, consumer protection and taxation.

For businesses and investors watching Uzbekistan, the specific sector matters less than the pattern it illustrates. A market that was closed is now licensed, with defined operators, defined terms and a defined expiry date. That is a regulatory system being built in real time.

The same underlying dynamic is visible in Uzbekistan's new LLC framework, the Enterprise Uzbekistan special legal regime and the country's export-support architecture: rules being written, tested and formalised at speed.

What it means practically

For any company assessing Uzbekistan, the practical implication is that regulatory due diligence has a short shelf life. A restriction confirmed eighteen months ago may no longer apply; a framework that did not exist may now govern your sector.

Checking the current position is not a formality in this market. It is the work.

NEW RULES. NEW PLAYERS. NEW MARKET.
