“Paperwork matters, but it comes after the relationship, not before.”
My path started in finance, then moved into digital products and blockchain over the years. Along the way I've done a lot of product and program management, including onboarding 100+ non-resident companies into Georgia, so I've seen firsthand what it actually takes for a foreign business to land here and get running. I enjoy taking messy, complicated problems, new technology, new regulation, unfamiliar markets, and turning them into something people can actually work with day to day.
Trade and investment between Georgia and Uzbekistan kept picking up, more people traveling between the two, more deals happening, but at the same time, actual process for a company to set up properly on the other side was still a hurdle. There was no real starting point, no one obvious to call. A few of us kept running into that same problem, so we decided to just build the thing that was missing.
Both countries are opening up at the same time and their relationship has gotten noticeably closer over the past few years. Georgia gives you easy access, workable regulation, and a natural entry into Europe and the Black Sea region. Uzbekistan brings scale, a young and growing consumer base, and it's in the middle of some serious reforms and growth.
A lof of time consuming proccesses : local compliance, opening a bank account, finding partners you can actually trust, understanding how business really gets done versus what's written down on paper. People underestimate how much time this eats up, and it usually ends up costing more to learn it the hard way than it would have to just ask someone first.
We want it to be easier for companies to move between these two markets. If someone’s thinking about expanding into Georgia or Uzbekisgan, we want to be who they talk to first. Goal is to be part of why trade between the two countries keeps growing.
Get to talk to people who are already running businesses there. And start building relationships early, because in both markets trust still moves faster than any contract. Paperwork matters, but it comes after the relationship, not before.
To have dozens of companies successfully set up in each direction, real relationships behind those deals, and a network people actually lean on instead of trying to piece everything together on their own.
Two countries that used to feel far apart on the map becoming close, trusted business partners, with GU Business Hub being part of what got them there.
